Hello everyone!
October Expo was last weekend, and while I only went for one day this time (the Saturday) I really enjoyed myself, and am feeling a bit down now it's over and it's also the end of the con season for me. I cosplayed as Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire - she's one of my favourite characters from the books, and I loved the TV adaptation! I'm looking forward to making more ASOIAF costumes in the future, especially for the big group at Kitacon next year, although I haven't decided who to be yet. I'm sort of waiting for them to release a picture of Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, because I love the character and I think she'll be great for her! I was very lucky with the weather for Daenerys - I thought I was going to be freezing in my skin-baring tribal Khaleesi outfit, but the sunshine was kind to me. I had ~KiroKitsune with me as my megolomaniac brother Viserys, with his amazing dragon applique - go check out his CI, he looks scarily accurate. I was also with ~GoldenMochi in her gorgeous Jacobean Italy.
We managed to make it to the panel for The Thrill Electric, which is an amazing new all-singing all-dancing educational webcomic with Music and Moving Images and Pretty Waistcoats and Equally Pretty Men! If you haven't yet heard of this, what are you doing with yourselves? Get over to www.thethrillelectric.com and READ IT! The art was done by my very talented friends at Windflower Studio, a wonderful all-female comic studio who do some stunning art. If you haven't checked them out either, you should do that too! [link]
...enough with the plugging.
Expo was fun, and while I managed to see a lot of people (you know who you are, and it was lovely to see you all and you all looked great as usual) I missed loads of people too! So if I did miss you, I'm sorry, and I hope we can catch up soon~ Expo, man...it's insane.
I managed to spend no money (other than at the bar of course, drinking is magic...) but had a good old wander anyway. The memorabilia event inspired me to do a Star Wars costume at some point in the near future. One of my absolute dream costumes is one of Amidala's gowns, so maybe I can finally make it!
All in all, pretty sad the cosplaying season's over til Kita now, although already starting to make plans for that. Until then, I've got my work cut out making costumes for the two shows I'm involved in with the Barefoot Players (www.barefootplayers.co.uk < to complete the round of plugs), so still sewing lots!
Putting a few Daenerys pics up now - taken by the lovely ~GoldenMochi!
I'm also in the month of madness that is NaNoWriMo! Yay writing! Still not sure if I'm playing to win, but definitely playing. Anyone else doing it?
Love~
